Role of Australian Medical Council

Australian Medical Council MCQ exam

The Australian Medical Council assesses applicants after two separate tests. One of these tests is the MCQ exam. This exam is fully computer integrated and has a duration of 3.5 hours. The exam consists of 150 questions from different medical topics and fields to test the applicant’s ability and technical nous of the subject. Australian AMC MCQ exam’s structure can be broken down to analyze the different topics applicants can expect being assessed upon. Adult health medicine will have a total of 15 questions, adult health surgery will have 25, women’s, children’s, mental and population health will each have 15 questions in no particular order whatsoever. The AMC MCQ exam dates for the year 2019 will be announced on the Australian Medical Council’s official website on the 28^th of November 2019 at 10 a.m. AEDT.  The reason AMC MCQ exam dates have been announced after a slight delay is that the sheer volume of application processing and logistics took longer than the 5^th March 2019 deadline.

Good Medical Practice is a textbook that’s endorsed by the council as a source of material that deals with major topics covered in the exam. Handbook of multiple choice questions deals with practice questions compiled from previous exams for reference and Handbook of clinical assessments deals with practical cases that applicants have had to study to ensure they have sound knowledge of different topics they will be tested upon.
